Orlando misdiagnosis attorney Todd Miner is dedicated to helping the victims of misdiagnosis and their families. We feel it is wrong for injured patients to be the only ones who suffer the consequences of a medical mistake. Causes of Misdiagnosis

It is difficult to gather precise statistics about the incidence of injuries caused by wrong diagnoses, but studies suggest that it is a fairly common problem. Some of the factors that can contribute to this serious error include:

  • Rushed medical staff. In emergency rooms and Intensive Care Units, medical workers cannot always take the time to carefully consider a medical issue. However, this does not automatically relieve them of the responsibility to pay attention and act professionally.
  • Doctor bias. A doctor could lean towards one diagnosis over other alternatives for several non-medical reasons. He or she could specialize in a certain illness, or perhaps be influenced by recent media coverage of a certain condition.
  • Lack of training. Medical workers are expected to stay current on medical issues. When they do not, they can miss important symptoms that have only recently been noted.

These reasons may be understandable, but they are not excuses for causing preventable injuries to patients. A misdiagnosis can cause serious damage in two ways: allowing the real condition to progress, and harmful side effects of the incorrect treatment.
