Icy Roads Blamed for Accidents

Posted on January 12th, 2010 No Comments

Icy roads are being blamed for at least two wrecks that occurred Monday morning.  Accidents that involve ice are very rare as ice hardly appears in Florida.  A police spokesman has stated that it has been at least five years since ice was a factor in a Florida car accident.

At least two accidents were reported related to the ice.  Both accidents occurred early in the morning according to reports. The accidents occurred when the drivers of the vehicles lost control.

A 21 year-old woman was struck and killed when attempting to cross State Road 60. The woman was attempting to cross the road from a center grass median that separated the two sides of traffic.

The woman was hit around 2:00 a.m. in the morning by a Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by an 18 year-old from Valrico.   The woman died at the scene of the accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the
accident.  No charges have yet been filed, but the possibility exists
in the future if the investigation concludes negligence or
wrong-doing.
