A tree that had fallen in the road was responsible for the death of two young individuals who were driving on a road near St. Augustine.

It was reported that  the male, a 25 year-old, and the female , a 19 years-old, and an unidentified passenger were driving on a country road at excessive speeds in the early morning hours on Thursday.  High winds had recently knocked over a pine tree, which was hanging a few feet above the road.

The speed of the vehicle and the darkness of the night made it difficult to see the pine tree and avoid the accident.  All three individuals in the car died from their injuries.
