Celebrate Halloween Safely

Many people look forward to celebrating Halloween every year. However, even while having fun, it is
important to always keep safety in mind. Halloween may be a time to wear spooky costumes or watch horror
movies, but no one wants the evening to be interrupted by real calamity. Whether you will be trick-or-treating
with your kids or attending a more grown-up party, please bear these safety tips in mind.

Unfortunately, reasonable precautions are not always enough to protect us from other party’s poor decisions.
If you have been injured by a negligent costume or decoration manufacturer, a reckless individual, or
another negligent party, you need to know your legal options. Call Orlando personal injury attorney
Todd Miner at 407-420-4040.

Low-Risk Fun

Staying safe does not have to require giving up enjoyable traditions. The follow tips are simple and
easy ways to help you and your family avoid Halloween injuries:

  • Make sure your costume and/or your children’s costumes are comfortable, non-flammable, and do not drag
on the ground. Children are not the only ones who can trip over loose clothes or be injured when their
costumes get too close to a candle or stove.
  • If you will be taking your kids trick-or-treating, make sure they are visible to motorists. Bright,
reflective clothing and flashlights or glow sticks can reduce the chances of serious accidents. Do not
stay out too late with small children; if they are very young, you may even prefer to do your trick-or-treating
    early in the evening.
  • If you will be carving Jack-o-Lanterns this year, be sure to use a sharp knife and always cut away from
your hands. If you have children, carve their pumpkins for them, or let them use paint or other materials
in lieu of carving. Glow sticks are a safer alternative to placing candles in pumpkins; if you do use
candles, never leave them unattended while lit.

Sadly, while you can take safety precautions for yourself and your family, you cannot control other
parties’ behavior. If a negligent person or organization has injured you or a loved one, an experienced
Orlando personal injury lawyer can help you determine what steps to take next.
